derived from red pepper; medical trials show it does help with nerve pain. I tried it & sure enough, I had immediate relief. Available at Wal Mart, Walgreens, many drug stores.

I had a strange reaction to capsaicin. I applied it one day and it didn't start working until the next day. Most of the time I believe this product is supposed to start working almost immediately but for me it was a very delayed reaction and one that I won't soon forget.

My previous PM doctor wanted me to try this for my back pain, but I don't have nerve pain since my fusion. I found that it didn't really help with the back pain at all, but my MRI shows an overgrowth of bone at the fusion site which they think is the cause. I'm really glad it worked for you, though.

I have found that it only gives some relief from oteo-artritis, noe for neurpatic pain and no reief from FMS. But, as with all meications, we all react differently. What works for one person, might not help another.
