Thinking of trying that anti-inflammatory diet

I'm an old guy, set in my ways, and have never been great about eating well. But arthritis has made me get more serious about things. One of the first questions I had is "Is there an official 'arthritis diet'?" I've been reading about this anti-inflammatory diet and thinking it makes a lot of sense.

Has anyone tried it? are you super strict about your food?

Have the benefits been worth the efforts?

I'm not a big seafood fan and the book I've been looking at recommends eating a lot of fish. Any ideas for an old guy like me?

I have read recently about the nightshade family increases inflammation. I don't know enough about it though. I am doing a nutrition class in the near future and will look into it further. I know there are several people at work that have arthritis. Thing is, I love tomatoes.

I can't take anti-inflammatory meds because of an ulcer and would love to know more about this. I have never heard of this diet-please tell us some more about the diet. I know increasing my dairy products definitely helps my arthritis as does a tablespoon of peanut butter a day. If anyone has any suggestions please post them-Thanks

I have been following these guide lines for several months for weight loss - adding fruits and veggies to my diet - and they have helped my arthritis considerably. I am able to go up and down stairs with minimal difficulty. I was diagnosed with osteoarthritis over 30 years ago and changing my diet has helped more than any drug I have tried.

I think diet makes a difference especially sugar. Read recently that meat is a problem as well as meat products. What are your thoughts ?

Cactus Pete…have you been able to try this out since you posted this? My asthma has been kicking my tail so I haven't been around much at all for quite a while. If you have had a chance to check it out, please let us know how it's going (or not going). Thanks!
