I would like to hear about how flares affect you. How often to they occur? How long do they last? How do you manage them? Does fatigue accompany the pain? My dr. has never even mentioned the word "flare," so I don't know what to expect.

A flare can be anything from a mild discomfort to an all-out "I can't move" episode. Fatigue, pain, stiffness can all be present. The severity of the flare or flare-up depends on the individual and the circumstances. Any time your arthritis becomes more active, it can be considered a flare-up. They may only last a few hours to a few days. Then it becomes necessary to see your doctor. Good luck and hopefully your flares will be minimal.
