Although it's not Thanksgiving yet, I like to think about what's good
in my life, things I'm Thankful for- be it friends, Family, pets, sunny
days, less pain, I can walk today!

Anything Good in your life today?

Today, I am so thankful for this site & others here that give so much
support to me, & those that need it so. Many people have become very
good friends here, & they are a blessing to our lives. I am thankful for
all the Vets who came home to their Families & their lives. I am thankful
for my Family & my pets, they add so much to my life. The most im-
portant thing that I am thankful for, is that God is in my life! Hugs,
    marieanne

I am thankful first, that God is with me, and being saved. Then thankful for my family, Children, grandchildren, greatgrandson, and the my two golden retrievers.
They meet me at the door everytime I leave and come home. I am thankful for my home ,health even though I could be better but could be worse. My job because alot of people dont have one and losing their homes and cars. You could be out in the cold, so yes there are alot to be thankful for.

I am thankful for the love of Jesus Christ. He has helped me through years or pain and troubles. He has protected me, guided me, and forgiven me more then I deserve. He has given me a wonderful help mate and 2 beautiful boys.

Everyday is a good day to give thanks. It has been my experience especially over the last three months that I am able achieve a certain goal ad my main tool is gratitude. This goal is simple, doable and informs all of my decisions; to be REASONABLY happy no matter what the circumstance. This requires that my outlook always must be positive no matter what. At first it was easy and I experienced a level of serenity that was unknown to me before. And then I started having a series of setbacks. I had a goal to walk 10,000 steps a day and I was doing well and I injured my foot. I had learned the hard way that I had to take it easy and that is what I did. I stayed cheerful and got involved with the hep c and diabetes communities. My foot healed, I got back on track and I got a new foot injury. I did the same as before and added aphorisms to my tool kit. Soon I was back on track again and my knee goes out. I wasn't too worried it; had happened before usually lasting a few days. Three weeks later the pain is nearly gone but the knee is unstable. I became frustrated for about 30 seconds; I suddenly realized that the only reason I felt frustrated was because I wasn't in the present. I am thankful that I have a positive attitude that works for me. I almost forgot to mention that I've experienced a life time depression and I have not suffered since. I have been sad but only at appropriate times. I like this topic; ir should recur at least every 3 months or so.

robertoj, thanks for posting. I think you have a very good outlook. I am
very grateful for many things in my life, & for my very life its-self! I never
want to forget this, no matter what may happen to my body as a result
of my illness. We are so much more than "our illness", & I choose to live
this way, remembering this- every day. God has truly Blessed me in ways
I never thought possible- so each day I thank HIM for what HE has given
me (that I need) Each day that I live is another blessing. "I can do all
things through Christ who strengthens me". Hugs, marieanne

I have 2 friends with cerebral palsy; people don't know how to react. It is really very simple treat them the way you want to be treated. If they can be grateful it would be silly of me not to. Both of them have many friends.

I'm thankful to be alive. This past January I had a stroke and it left my right arm paralyzed. But the middle of last month I started regaining the use of my arm again. I still have a few kinks to work out, but I am so thankful that I can use my hand and arm again. And very thankful for all the support, because without it I would have given up and listened to the doctors tell me that I wasn't going to get better! There's so much to be thankful for that it would take me forever to list it all! So I'm grateful for everything!

Two weeks ago my wife was out of town, I was sleeping when two of our cats woke me up. I fed them and I realized that I was sweaty and woozy (I am diabetic) so I tested my blood glucose. It was dangerously low and I believe that had they not woke me up I might not wake at all. Thank God I'm still alive.

  • marieanne
    marieanne September 18, 2011 at 2:36 am

I am glad that you are okay. Studies have shown that pets can & do
sense things wrong in their people, & very often react to that by trying
to tell the person. This has also been found with seizures, cancer, etc.
With both dogs & cats reacting to illness. I am not surprised that they
awoke you, to make you aware of your low blood sugar. You've got
some very special friends there with you! Hugs, marieanne

Thank you for sharing with us here. I am so glad you didn't give up!
My Grandpa had some strokes when he was about 90 yrs. old & even
though it put him in the hospital for a while, he still recovered fully
& lived on for a few more yrs.! Even at that age! So, I think we shouldn't
give up- bc the will to live is a very powerful thing, & it seems like
when people give up, they aren't here very long after that. I am
glad that you are here, also! I am also glad that you have much to
be thankful for. I am very fortunate to be here also in so many ways!
    Hugs, marieanne

I am thankful mostly that through all I've been through God has allowed me to keep my sense of humor and positive attitude. Without these I know I would not be here to reply to you Marieanne.
I'm also thankful for my friends here and in person. They have helped me so much. And, I must mention my cat, Pebbles…she gives me so much unconditional love…and even when I first get up in the morning makes me smile :)

I'm thankful for my daughters, my laptop and reading glasses, cat, friends. I'm thankful for running water and hydro that works 100% of the time, hot water, and a shower that beats me when I want. Mostly, I'm thankful for the Travel Channel :D

Thanks Palm Princess, sometimes I think it's important to remember to
count our blessings, & look at things from a different angle. It makes
me feel so much better when I do this- not just 1 day per year, but
    every day! Hugs, marieanne

I'm thankful that I can still get up in the morning and can stay somewhat active. Altho I may be slower, I can still face day to day. And am especially thankful when morning stiffness is minimal. Thanks for reminding us to count our blessings.

  • marieanne
    marieanne September 14, 2011 at 12:46 pm

Thank you, too hobber. I am thankful when I can move at all in the
mornings. "I don't do mornings", usually pretty bad for me. I am
thankful for staying out the wheelchair a bit longer, can still drive
my car safely, have some independence, & so much more that this
would be extremely long here. Mostly though, I am thankful for
my Family & friends here, & at home. May all find some blessings in
    their lives today~ Hugs, marieanne

I am thankful for life, this site, for my dog, for being able to do most things, for being able to open car doors for the children to get safely inside the building even when I am freezing in the bitter wintertime or sweating gallons in the blazing heat of fall when school reopens. I am thankful for parents who think of me standing out in the freezing cold and bring me a wonderful cup of coffee or hot chocolate to help me stay warm. I am thankful for being able to say that I am a christian and pray for others who are on this site. All in all we have lots to be thankful for and we should count our blessings everyday.
